WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race is making a stop in the Port City this week, filming scenes for its newest season at several local hotspots.
According to the City of Wilmington, production will take place both indoors and outdoors on Wednesday and Thursday at Wilmington Brewing Company, Waterman’s Brewing, and Slice of Life downtown.
Friday morning, they will film the show’s opening and finale segments at the Wilmington Convention Center, which will not include the food trucks.
The long-running reality series, hosted by celebrity chef Tyler Florence, follows teams of aspiring food truck owners as they travel across the country, cooking and selling their way through a series of culinary challenges. Each week, one team is eliminated, with the last truck standing winning a grand prize — often as much as $50,000.
Five food trucks will be part of the Wilmington filming segment. The City of Wilmington says all trucks are permitted by the New Hanover County Health Department and will be serving food to the public during the shoot.
