Kids on spring break enjoy first day of camp

HE TALKED TO SOME KIDS ABOUT HOW THEY’RE SPENDING THEIR TIME AWAY FROM SCHOOL. >> YEAH, BRANDON ALLISON, LIKE WILLIAM JUST SAID. AND YOU JUST SAID, BRANDON, WARM WEATHER AND NO SCHOOL. I CAN’T THINK OF A BETTER REASON TO COME OUTDOORS. AND A LOT OF THE KIDS THAT I SPOKE TO EARLIER SAID THAT THOSE WERE THE REASONS, BUT THEY WERE ALSO HERE FOR THEIR FIRST DAY OF SPRING BREAK CAMP. >> RIGHT NOW. >> THE ROGERS ACTIVITY CENTER HOLDS A CAMP FOR KIDS FIRST THROUGH SEVENTH GRADE. FOR ALL THE MAJOR BREAKS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. >> I JUST LOOK FORWARD TO COMING AND HANGING OUT WITH THE KIDS. THEY ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY BETTER AND THEN JUST BUILDING LIKE FRIENDSHIPS AND POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEM AND BEING ABLE TO BE LIKE THEIR SAFE. >> SPACE. >> CARSON SAYS SPRING AND SUMMER BREAKS ARE USUALLY THE BUSIEST FOR STAFF. WHEN THE WEATHER IS AS NICE AS IT HAS BEEN. THE KIDS GET TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME OUTDOORS. >> PLAY FOOTBALL WITH FRIENDS. I COME HERE TO PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS, MAKE NEW FRIENDS. I JUST PLAY AROUND AND DO ARTS AND CRAFTS AND FUN THINGS AND GO TO THE GYM AND STUFF. IT’S JUST REALLY FUN. I’M THE SAME. I’M THE SAME AS THE CHOIR. >> THIS YEAR’S CAMP IS FULL WITH 40 KIDS ATTENDING. MANY OF THEM HAVE BEEN COMING FOR YEARS. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MEMORY? >> MEETING RIVER FOR THE FIRST TIME. >> ARE Y’ALL BEST FRIENDS? >> YEAH, YEAH, YEAH. ALL THREE OF. >> Y’ALL YEARS OF CREATING MEMORIES AND RELATIONSHIPS TO LAST. >> JUST ENGAGE AND. Kids on spring break enjoy first day of camp

Public school students across Arkansas start their first day of spring break Monday. Students at the Rogers Activity Center spent their first day away at camp. “I just look forward to coming and hanging out with the kids. They always make my day better and then just building, like, friendships and positive relationships with them and being able to be like their safe space,” Veronica Casson, the child care coordinator said. This camp happens during all major breaks during the school year like summer and winter breaks. Casson said spring is always very busy. The camp registration for spring is closed now but summer camp registration is active.
