Oklo stock surges on NRC application progress

Our next trending ticker, Oklo, that stock is moving higher today after the company said it was started working with the nuclear regulatory commission to prepare a prepare for a license application to build small modular reactions. Julie, the company says it’s been engaged with the NRC since 2016. Uh, it’s completed extensive pre pre-application engagement. Company’s co-founder and CEO saying, “We continue making progress towards obtaining commercial licenses for next generation nuclear technologies.”

To to be clear, this is ticking the box as part of a long long process. Let me remind people what this is. This is a pre-application readiness assessment, okay? Um, and so Oklo’s products, to remind everyone, they are aiming to make small modular reactors. Those reactors do not exist yet. What they are aiming to do is to build a demonstration reactor in Idaho. That’s what they’re pre-applying to do. Um, so just a reminder there for folks, but it’s just another step towards that process. They expect that first small modular reactor to go into service in 2027. So, this is all part of that process here. The company is set to report earnings tonight, but it’s not expected to make money for the foreseeable future. It doesn’t make revenue yet. It is a pre-revenue company. But the reason that the stock has risen, and it’s, you know, more than doubled, almost tripled over the past year, is on the promise of this technology and on the AI powered demand for nuclear energy.
