FENTON, Mich. (WNEM) – Back to the Bricks won’t be bringing a Tune-Up party to Fenton this year, prompting Fenton to plan its own auto show for 2026.
Tune-Up Week had motoring enthusiasts pulling into Fenton since 2010, and while the engines won’t roar there this year, Back to the Bricks organizers said a return after this year would not have been out of the question.
Back to the Bricks brings more than half a million car enthusiasts to Genesee County each summer, and as plans rev up for this year’s event, there are some changes to the line-up.

“I think there was some confusion so that, because we work on it all year and our understanding last year was that we have the best Tune-Up party in the county on a number of different metrics or different fronts. And so, we were of course looking forward to having it again,” said Michael Hart, the assistant city manager and director of economic development for Fenton.
Hart was speaking about the 2025 Back to the Bricks announcement leaving Fenton and Linden off its list of locations for this year’s Tune-Up parties, which lead up to the main event in Flint.
“I feel very bad for the whole south part of the county that there’s no Tune-Up parties in the whole south part of the county,” Hart said.
TV5 reached out to the Back to the Bricks organizer who said the reason behind the change is just to go into new areas with downtown Lapeer and the Owosso Speedway as new sites on the schedule, and conversations with the city of Fenton had only been positive.
“Yeah, very positive. We have a lot of respect for them, great organization. Of course we’re disappointed, but we respect that they had to go ahead and make some changes, but we have to look forward to the future,” Hart said.
And according to Hart, the future could be the birth of another classic car show in Fenton. It’s an event the city is already in initial discussions for next year.
“We had business owners that were counting on this in their calendars and our public and our residents and people that wanted to come into the city, you know, from the community and from outside the community. So, we have to now go ahead and work to craft this from the ground up,” Hart said.
With this year’s decision in the rearview, Hart is looking forward.
“We love cars. It’s going to be a car event. And not only that, there’s always opportunity. How do we go to the next level?” he said.
Back to the Bricks kicks off Aug. 4 in Davison.
