12th annual Healthy Kids Day to be held in Empie Park

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – An event to celebrate kids staying active is being held next month.

The 12th annual Healthy Kids Day will be held by the YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina and Wilmington Parks & Recreation.

The event is open to the public and there will be activities such as sports stations, bouncy houses, face painting and a one-mile Fun Run.

“Healthy Kids Day is a special event for our community”, says Corey Maarschalk, YMCA Vice President of Youth Services. “It’s not just about promoting physical health—it’s about inspiring our youth to embrace active lifestyles, make positive choices, and connect with others in a fun and supportive environment. Partnering with the City of Wilmington, and more than 30 other organizations who will be present and sharing resources, allows us to reach more families and make a lasting impact.”

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Empie Park on April 26.
