Arizona kids collect books and toys for California wildfire victims

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s been over two months since the devastating wildfires broke out in the Palisades and other areas around Los Angeles.

Many families lost everything, and the cleanup and rebuilding will take years. However, a group of Arizona kids are doing Something Good by helping the children who are victims of the California wildfires.

Pals 4 Palisades was founded by 10-year-old Peyton Ghormley and her brother, 8-year-old Beckham. The group collected hundreds of donations, including books and toys, by going door-to-door in their neighborhood.

“I felt really really hard feelings and emotions, and I really wanted to start a service project with all my friends,” said Peyton. She and her mom came up with a project of stuffies and books to give to the kids who lost their homes.

“It feels really good for me to help the kids from the wildfires and give them lots of stuff that they lost,” said Beckham.

Eleven-year-old Ramsey is also part of the project and says she was shocked at how much people gave.

“Our world, it can be a very kind place and it was so amazing seeing how much donations we got and how much kids it will help,” she said.

The group went to California to deliver the items in person.

“I feel really good that we did something to help kids who suffered in the wildfires,” said Chloe, 10, who is part of Pals 4 Palisades.
