NH students visit Ukraine to help Ukrainian children who lost parents in war

Two students from New Hampshire are in Poland to help support Ukrainian children who have lost loved ones in the war.Juniors Sofie Ramasko and Kelly McVeigh from the Holderness School in Plymouth are volunteering with Common Man for Ukraine during the nonprofit’s multi-week trauma retreat in Poland. And although we try to keep it fun and happy, occasionally you get little bits of that. It just brings you back to why we really do this and why it's so important," McVeigh said.McVeigh said she was a part of another retreat with Common Man for Ukraine last August. She said it's amazing to see the close connections the kids build over a short period of time being together and participating in the program.

They said the trip to Poland has been rewarding in many ways.

“It’s just amazing to work with these kids and see their big smiles every day,” Ramasko said.

“These are just kids, but they’ve gone through so much. And although we try to keep it fun and happy, occasionally you get little bits of that. It just brings you back to why we really do this and why it’s so important,” McVeigh said.
