Food trucks camped out in Coolidge Park for a few hours yesterday, drawing in hundreds. This was the Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival’s third appearance in the Scenic City. The festival, hosted by Food Truck Festivals of America, did not disappoint, featuring nearly thirty food trucks from across the country with menus that offered a little something for everyone.
Also scattered around one of Chattanooga’s most popular parks were tables lined with unique artisan crafts and homemade delicacies, which only attracted even more people.
“I didn’t think there was going to be this many people, but they’ve shown us a lot of love. Everyone is getting their share of business,” says Drew McMillion, an attendee.
The turnout took some by surprise. Owner of Food Truck Festivals of America, Anthony Pepe, said this is the most people that have attended the event since they began hosting in Chattanooga.
“Today is an absolute monster. They just keep coming through the gate. I’ve never seen anything like this,” says Pepe. “They came out in bunches today. They’re like bananas: they came in bunches, and it’s awesome!”
Pepe says the festival started in New England in 2011 and took off from there.
“It’s really exciting,” says Pepe. “We do this all across the country, and it’s fun to support all of these small businesses. We have 27 food trucks here, and they’re all small businesses.”
Pepe says it’s a great way to celebrate these local businesses, and he’s more than grateful to be a part of it.
“This is an absolute beast,” he says. “Thank you, Chattanooga! Thank you!”
