CHICO Calif –Downtown Chico shut down Saturday for the first-ever Makers Muse Festival—a street-wide celebration of local art, music, and small businesses.
Organized by Idea Fab Labs and Maker Radio, the event featured three galleries, 36 vendors, live music, a magician, a fashion show with reused materials, and a scavenger hunt.
The biggest draw was a mural competition with four massive pieces on display. Dylan Tellesen won the $500 prize for his mural, “Pulling My Eyes Out.”
Vendors offered everything from handmade crafts to herbal goods. Food booths lined the street with options ranging from sushi to cotton candy. A full bar run by Ramble West stayed open until the end.
The festival ran from noon to 10:00 p.m. and organizers say they plan to make it a yearly event.
