Kids had the opportunity to show their artwork at “The Great Kids Art Exhibit” on Saturday, March 7. The atmosphere was welcoming, relaxed, and vibrant, with about a hundred attendees making their way through the gallery. A two-piece band called “10 by Two,” with Bob Aul on upright bass and Pete Colby on electric guitar.
The event was hosted by the All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation. The Foundation provides art lessons for kids in partnership with Fullerton School District. The lessons reach around 10,500 kids from kindergarten through sixth grade. Classes are innovative, curriculum-related arts experiences conducted by professional artists. Classes are offered in areas such as art, music, dance, and theater.
Lauralyn Eschner, Creative Director, describes the Foundation as “a heart project.” The group was formed in 1992 with the dream of providing as much arts education as possible for kids and the community and has since raised around three million dollars for its cause. An early dream was to have a dedicated space. That dream became a reality in November last year when All the Arts started leasing a building in downtown Fullerton.
Since the Foundation has had its own space, demand for its offerings has grown dramatically and there are now plans to expand offerings for adults and teens. During the Fullerton School District Spring Break, from March 17 to 21, All the Arts will offer classes every day (enrollment information available via Facebook). Coming this summer, watch for “Arts Adventure Camp.”
