Why All CEOs Should Play ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’

Intel Corp. last week announced Lip-Bu Tan as its new CEO, with the hope he might be able to reverse the chipmaker’s long slide. Intel isn’t the only American icon that’s lost its footing; Boeing Co., Nike Inc. and General Electric Co. are among the big names to stumble in recent years. Why does this keep happening? The best way to understand might be to play a couple of video games.

Specifically, Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Baldur’s Gate 3. The first is an object lesson in what happens when a company chases profit at the expense of everything else; the second, what can result when making a truly excellent product is its North Star. Together, they offer as close to a controlled experiment in real business as you’ll ever experience in the comfort of your own home.
