BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Car lovers, this is your moment! The first day of spring brings with it the first day of this year’s Lehigh Valley Auto Show. Organizers say with the theme, “Ignite Your Imagination,” they’re hoping to excite and inspire.
It feels like it’s back in a flash. Zooming in from 0 to 60 in 3.5, this year’s Lehigh Valley Auto show returns.
“I like being able to check out all the new models and the various different makes and brands,” George Jacobs, from Easton, said. “So it’s a good place to see everything in one place.”
With more than 40 dealers, it’s got the best — and quite frankly, everything — the Lehigh Valley has to offer, on four wheels.
“We try to make this a yearly venture,” Donna Pavlovic, from Bethlehem, said.
“Instead of going hopping around all the dealerships and being bugged by salesmen, you can come here, look around, sit in every vehicle and just take your time,” her husband Pete added.
You may say it’s the Olympics of car shows: with metals in gold, silver and bronze — and of course more than that too.
“Only looking at hybrids, hybrid SUVs,” Pete said.
From domestic to luxury, from cutting edge to timeless classics.
“I’ve got my eye on Subarus today,” Jacobs said.
Some were surprised to see a larger selection this year.
“They have every Toyota make here, you know, every model that they have,” Janine Smaltz, from Nazareth, said.
And that’s what the theme, “Ignite your imagination,” is all about: to inspire and excite all who visit.
But the show is more than just all things auto. Animals are here too!
Katie Cetta serves as coordinator for Subaru Loves Pets, the car company’s initiative to help pets find their new owners — while the new owners also search for new cars.
“Subaru loves pets,” Cetta said. “We’ve been running this program with the auto shows for about seven years now.”
Whether you’re in the market for a Subaru or any other motorized machine, you can stop on by to check out these makes and models of adorable pups.
“So Macy’s like a boxer-pit bull,” Carolynn Southwick, Volunteer Coordinator for Easton’s The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, said. “Linguini is like a pit mix. Macy’s about six. Linguine is about three.”
The company says it’s all part of its mission to be charitable.
“I think we just share the values with our customer base,” Cetta said. “We care about animals.”
And the shelters are grateful for the outreach.
“Just about getting our dogs out into the community, making sure you know that they’re getting more visibility,” Southwick said.
And it turns out a lot of car lovers are also animal lovers.
“That’s a wonderful idea,” Jacobs said. “I saw them when I first came in here.”
