Local Boy Scouts pack food for those in need

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – On Tuesday, some local Boy Scouts worked to give back to those facing food insecurity.

The scouts volunteered to pack over 500 bags of food at the Johnson Building on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds to be distributed via DoorDash.

“It’s a lot. It’s really cool to see especially kids this age getting involved, carrying juice that weighs as much as they weigh. So it’s something where they get a lot of their strength in and hopefully, they sleep well tonight,” said Josh Hayes, the Assistant Director of Operations with the Faith Temple Food Giveaway.

The bags included shelf-stable foods such as canned fruit and vegetables.
