Enforcing our pesticide laws to protect children from chlorpyrifos and other organophosphates is an obvious and urgent necessity. Yet, during its first term, the Trump administration consistently sided with chemical companies to keep these toxic pesticides in our food and water. Organophosphates have been linked to learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, and reduced IQ. Banning them from our food supply would prevent countless children from facing lifelong health challenges that can adversely affect their lives and their families. We urge the EPA to uphold its commitment to protecting Children by banning pesticides linked to the growing epidemic of learning disabilities and behavioral disorders.
This is their opportunity to get it right. Send a letter to some of the participating agencies of the Make America Healthy Again Commission and remind them that banning chlorpyrifos — and other pesticides that harm children — is a widely supported, bipartisan action that would make food safer for our children.
After you send your letter, you’ll also have the opportunity to submit a public comment to the EPA before the March 24 deadline.
Earthjustice has been working for decades to make food healthier for everyone – we’re ready show this administration around.
