Watertown Earns National Recognition for Financial Reporting Excellence

{KXLG – Watertown, SD} The City of Watertown has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), according to a press release issued by the city. The recognition is for Watertown’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023.

The GFOA states this award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. An impartial panel reviewed the report and found it met the program’s high standards, including a spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate the city’s financial position and encourage public engagement.

“This recognition highlights thededication and professionalism of our finance team,” said Kristen Bobzien, Interim City Manager and Chief Financial Officer, in the press release. “Their hard work ensures Watertown’s financial reporting remains accurate, transparent, and accessible.”

The city has now received this award 42 times, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to financial transparency.
