Suspect arrested in connection with shooting in car at fast food restaurant, authorities say

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting inside of a car at a fast food restaurant, authorities said.

According to an arrest report, Jaden James, 18, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, illegal use of a dangerous weapon, and armed robbery.

Police said the shooting happened on Sunday evening, January 19, at the Burger King on Perkins Road near Staring Lane in Baton Rouge.

The victim said that he was inside of the car at the scene and was choked by James, while another unnamed male pointed a gun at the victim’s head, according to authorities. They added that the victim told investigators his cell phone was also taken by James during the struggle.

The victim said he got his phone back but was shot in the shoulder and jumped out of the car onto the pavement, the arrest report stated. The report added that the victim told investigators James then got into the driver’s seat of the car and drove away.

James was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. Authorities said he has also been previously arrested in Livingston Parish on charges of attempted first-degree murder, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, and illegal use of weapons.
