LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) – The First Federal Bank in Lake City hosted a “Badges and Splashes” event featuring local first responders on Saturday.
“The goal is to get the word out and spread the idea that conversations can help us create a larger community,” said Marisa Burnham, the event organizer.
Organizers said they wanted to create a fun water day for children and let them to meet first responders.
“I was trying to figure out how to combine my passion for first responders and community helpers with my job as a behavioral analyst. I realized that fostering community was essential, and this event became the solution we came up with,” added Burnham.
This year marks the first event, and the organizers are hopeful about continuing it in the future, aiming to make it bigger and better each year.
