The ARK of South Carolina will host its fourth annual car show from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at 201 Sigma Drive in Summerville. The free, family-friendly event will feature a showcase of classic and custom vehicles, food trucks, raffles, door prizes and more.
Car enthusiasts are invited to register their vehicles and compete for awards, including the Top 35, Best in Show and The ARK Award. Registration is $25 in advance by March 28 or $30 on the day of the event. On-site registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be presented at 12:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will benefit The ARK of South Carolina, a nonprofit organization that provides support and resources to families affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Since 1996, The ARK has offered respite care, support groups, educational workshops, caregiver consultations and community outreach in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester and Orangeburg counties.
“The car show is more than just an event for auto enthusiasts — it’s a way for the community to come together in support of families impacted by dementia,” said Peg Lahmeyer, executive director of The ARK of South Carolina. “Caregivers often face immense physical and emotional challenges, and our programs are here to provide relief, education and support every step of the way.”
Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) are progressive brain disorders that affect memory, cognitive function and behavior, eventually impairing a person’s ability to perform daily tasks. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 112,500 individuals in South Carolina are living with the disease, with approximately 219,000 family members and friends providing unpaid care. In The ARK’s five-county service area, more than 15,000 individuals are affected by ADRD.
