CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Food Bank is calling for help as they face a critical shortage of essential items.
In response to this urgent need, V-Mart stepped up by hosting a food drive Saturday, encouraging the community to come out and make donations.
This is the first time V-Mart has organized such an event, with the goal of supporting the local community and helping those who are struggling. General Manager of V-Mart Zoey Tran expressed that this initiative is part of their commitment to giving back.
“We are a grocery store and we know the products that everyone needs, it’s not supporting just the south side area it is supporting all Corpus Christi as a part of [the] food bank and Coastal Bend. It is important to help out people,” said Tran.
We also spoke with Micaela Stewart, Multimedia Communications Coordinator for the Coastal Bend Food Bank, who spoke about the dire need for community support.
“Right now we are calling to our community whatever they can support us with as far as food donations we appreciate it, if they want to host a food drive, whether with an organization, as a community event, business organization we just really appreciate support right now so we can fill our shelves,” said Stewart.
V-Mart will continue to collect donations all month long.
All proceeds and donations will go to the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
