2nd Food Truck Fest brings thousands to North Laurel

LAUREL, Miss. (WDAM) – Nearly 20 mobile food vendors gathered in North Laurel Saturday to share their homemade dishes with thousands of visitors.

It was all part of the second annual Laurel Food Truck Festival.

“I just came to enjoy some of this good ole food from different varieties of people,” said Taja Arrington, of Laurel, one of the thousands who attended the event.

The event featured barbecue, as well as Mediterranean, Jamaican and Mexican food. Also featured: face painting for children and live music.

“I think it’s pretty cool,” said festival attendee Khynah Hamilton, of Bay Springs. “There are a lot of people to socialize, the food is good.”

The first Laurel Food Truck Festival took place last September.

“I decided back in November to just do it, because everybody kept asking about it and we were expecting rain (Saturday), but the the rain graciously held off, so it’s way bigger than we imagined it to be, way bigger than last fall,” said festival organizer Corbin Holifield.

Holifield said 17 food trucks participated in Saturday’s event.
