Flathead Food Bank begins fundraising campaign for expansion

Flathead Food Bank is launching a capital campaign aimed at expanding and enhancing its services to combat food insecurity in the Flathead Valley.

The campaign launches on March 11 at Stockman Bank as the bank hosts the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce’s UNWIND business networking event at 5 p.m. at 1825 U.S. 93 S, Suite F, in Kalispell.

The Flathead Food Bank is currently distributing over 1.8 million pounds of food annually in the Flathead Valley. Its headquarters in the southern end of the Gateway Community Center include 1973 infrastructure.

The food bank has plans to fully revitalize the space. The Flathead Food Bank Capital Campaign will fuel critical upgrades, including expanding warehouse space to handle the growing need and installing state-of-the-art refrigeration to keep fresh, nutritious food on the table.

Brian Pelc, Stockman Bank commercial loan officer and former Flathead Food Bank board president, said the food bank pays such a vital role in the Flathead Valley, and Stockman bank is thrilled to be involved in the project to help them serve those who are impacted by food insecurity.

Margit Rogers, Flathead Food Bank capital campaign director, said the generosity of the community will enable the food bank to build a more resilient and food-secure Flathead Valley.

“This Capital Campaign is essential to ensuring we can meet the growing needs of our community,” Rogers said in a release.
