Jamie Apody announces new job in Philly sports scene. What’s the sportscaster’s new gig

Jamie Apody, the longtime 6ABC sports reporter who left the air without explanation in October 2023, may have found a new home in Philadelphia media.

Last April, Apody announced she will not return to the station after her absence. Now, she has tweeted that she has a new gig, talking sports again in the city. She announced she will join Fox 29’s Phantastic Sports Show on Monday nights.

“A small step to what I hope is a more prominent role on this awesome station,” she said in the post on X, formerly Twitter.

The tweet included a clip of the show with Apody leading a conversation on what to do with jerseys of athletes who no longer play in Philadelphia, holding up a Darius Slay jersey.

Apody was last seen reporting on WPVI in October, 2023 during the Eagles season. Her unexplained disappearance from the news station sparked rumors and concerns for the reporter, who has been part of the Philadelphia sports scene for 18 years.

She took to her personal Facebook on last April to tell followers she was leaving and to thank them for their support.

“As you have probably all already figured out, after 18 years, it is with incredible mixed emotions that I can now make official that my time at 6abc has come to an end,” she wrote. “It’s profoundly bittersweet. Because despite having a front row seat to so many memorable moments in Philadelphia sports after the past, almost 2-decades, I also MISSED so many memorable moments of my own.”

Apody, who lives in the Delaware Valley, is married and the mother of three boys, whom she prominently features on her social media page.

She covered the Eagles’ first Super Bowl-winning season, the Phillies’ World Series run and hundreds of stories on local athletes overcoming challenges to play.
