PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Salvation Army in Parkersburg is extending their food drive with WVU Parkersburg for the corps food pantry.
Marjorie Rowe, the Captain at the Salvation Army in Parkersburg, said the reason for the extension is because of the need for supplying for families .
“We are seeing more and more families come in,” Rowe said. “The need has become greater and we’re just not having enough food to complete the need that we have.”
According to a post made on the Salvation Army of Parkersburg Facebook page, the organization is hoping to work on getting grants and donations to the food pantry so it can be stocked for people who rely on it every day.
Rowe added that any donation made can matter for a family in need.
“Anything that is in date, we’re asking for,” Rowe said. “Please don’t bring expired foods. You can bring frozen items, bakery items, anything actually that a household would need to make a good meal. If you give just a little bit of food, that little bit adds up and that makes a meal for that family who can’t afford to go to Walmart or the local grocery store. Even oodles and noodles at this point would be just wonderful for a family right now.”
Food donations can be dropped at WVU Parkersburg on 300 Campus Drive, and at the Salvation Army’s location at 534 5th Street.
