Girls Summit empowers young women to career opportunities in sports

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – An event this week will aim to help young women with career opportunities in the sports industry during Women’s History Month.

The Grizzlies will host their annual Girls Summit — presented by Nike — at the Memphis Sports and Events Center on Thursday.

ESPN host Kendra Andrews will emcee the event, which, according to a news release, “allows girls to explore available career paths through competitive sports with hands-on demonstrations and panel discussions with current and former professional athletes.”

A group of 250 middle school girls will take part in sports clinics that cover basketball, dance, rugby and golf.

ESPN’s Andrews will be joined by Olympic rugby player Naya Tapper and New York Liberty’s Isabelle Harrison.
