CHADBOURN, N.C. (WECT) -A pop-up market to assist those in need in the community is being held this month in Chadbourn.
The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina is holding the event at Jerusalem Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. The markets are mostly walk-up and volunteers stock tables from pallets of food.
“The Pop Up Markets program is meant to provide additional support for the Food Bank’s primary goal: supporting our Partner Agency Network. These are locally run food pantries, soup kitchens, and other organizations that partner with us to distribute food to those in need in their communities,” the food bank organizers wrote on their website.
No income, ID, or residency requirements are necessary, however, there is a brief check-in process so that the food bank can track how many are served. Phone numbers are collected in case of a product recall.
The food at the pop-up markets is provided by donors, including farmers, retailers and manufacturers, and 8-12 pallets of food are handed out per distribution.
The food distributed varies based on availability and the most common foods distributed are fresh produce, snacks, beverages and retail bakery items.
The pop-up market at Chadbourn will be held on March 19, from 2 to 4 p.m.
To find the nearest agency near you, visit the bank’s food finder and search by zip code to see a full list of partner agencies in the area.
