Hysterics as dad convinces five kids to contribute to his hobby

A dad who managed to rope nearly all of his kids into his passion has left the internet in hysterics.

The devilishly clever dad’s wife, Emma Williams (@emmawill2014), posted a clip on TikTok showing five out of their six kids gathered around the table and engrossed in painting Warhammer 40k miniatures with their father.

Warhammer 40,000, often abbreviated as Warhammer 40k, is a miniature war game. Players assemble and paint detailed models representing futuristic soldiers, vehicles and creatures which are then used to enact battles on tabletop battlefields.

Williams’ clip, which has been viewed 1.3 million times, sparked laughter across TikTok, with viewers marveling at the dad’s ability to turn his hobby into a fully-fledged family activity.

“Mass production unlocked,” one TikTok user wrote.

“My husband wants to know how he did that,” a second user commented.

“A hobby and free labor? He’s smart,” a third wrote.

Another amused viewer wrote, “Dad: ‘I need to paint all my Warhammer figures,’ looks at wife seductively, ‘I need more workers.’”

Engaging in shared hobbies can strengthen family bonds and encourage creativity, studies show. A Pew Research Center study found that 55 percent of Americans are “very satisfied” with the amount of time they spend with doing social activities with their families.

Many other TikTok viewers were curious about the sixth child’s whereabouts. “Where’s number six? Sounds like they’re slacking,” @spungeyone joked.

One intrigued user asked whether the children were all painting different factions (armies and races in Warhammer 40k). Williams’ husband, Dave, replied in the comments to clarify that they were mostly painting Lord of the Rings and Necrons.

Some also commented on the cost of the hobby. With individual models and army sets ranging from $30 to several hundred dollars, viewers were curious how the couple’s bank balance was holding up with their full house.
