The ‘Destiny 2’ Battle Pass Loot Extractor Tool Is A New Must-Use

In the past, it was possible to finagle your way around Destiny 2’s expiring battle passes that go away at the end of every season or episode. Then, that power was sandblasted away as presumably Bungie didn’t like that much.

Now? The concept has its best format yet, thanks to the brilliant Newo who has just released a super-useful, ultra-refined Destiny 2 Season Pass Wayback Machine extension. For now, it’s for Firefox-approved only, but you can manually install it on other browsers like Google Chrome until it’s approved there. It’s a must-have for any longer-term player.

When I say it gets around expiring battle passes, that’s only partially true. Unlike other games, you cannot switch to an old pass and continue to level it. That’s something Bungie would nuke instantly as it’s less motivation to play in the moment. However, what this tool does is allow you to claim previously un-claimed battle pass rewards that you simply forgot to grab, as it’s easy to have your attention fade by the end of a season. I do this with exotic engrams all the time, for instance.

This will include all your characters and items on a single page, and it even has tools to allow you to claim things like engrams that will strategically help you min-max your current power level. Just because these are old passes, that does not mean those engrams are stuck at lower power. This tool should end up going back to Season of the Risen back in February of 2022.

There are some other tools like this, and there are some bugs with this one still, but it is definitely the best one of these I’ve ever seen, even better than when you could juke your way into the pass on the Bungie site.

I don’t know what Bungie will do about this, if anything. They are not exactly overflowing with player goodwill at the moment, and killing off a tool that allows you to claim past battle pass rewards you’ve actually earned would be awful. I don’t see that happened. This isn’t letting you get XP on old passes or grab 100+ items you didn’t unlock, after all.

If you just want to officially install it on Firefox now you can, and you can wait for the extension to be approved on other browsers if you don’t want to install it manually. Newo gives instructions on how to use effectively every form of the Wayback Machine right now in the thread attached to this tweet below. Enjoy:
