Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania has named a new CEO to replace Karen Seggi, who has retired after serving in that role since 2001.
Second Harvest’s board of directors announced Monday that Gregory D. Hall, who has more than 10 years in nonprofit leadership experience, will lead Second Harvest, which distributes food to people in 11 counties in northwestern Pennsylvania.
Hall previously served as director of business development at Shriners Hospital for Children in Erie and as chief operating officer at Sarah Reed Children’s Center.
“I am extremely honored to join Second Harvest Food Bank,” Hall said in a statement. “I look forward to building on the incredible framework Karen (Seggi) has developed over 35 years of service to Second Harvest.”
Hall, who earned a bachelor’s degree from Gannon University, holds a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Seggi, who joined Second Harvest as an accountant in 1990, helped expand the organization from 270 member agencies that distributed 7.3 million pounds of food to 384 member agencies that last year delivered more than 12.5 million pounds of food.
In a statement, she expressed confidence in the organization’s new leader.
“Greg brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, and I’m confident that, with his guidance, Second Harvest will continue to deepen the impact for our neighbors in need,” she said.
Seggi went on to say, “It has been a privilege to lead this organization and witness its profound influence on our neighbors and the communities we serve.”
