Bodybuilder, 20, dies while visiting Arnold Sports Festival

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jodi Vance, a 20-year-old bodybuilder and coach, died while attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus on Thursday, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed. 

According to the coroner’s office, Vance was transported to Grant Medical Center from the Arnold Sports Festival and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:51 p.m.

The coronor didn’t release information on what caused her death. 

In social media posts, Vance’s family posted on her accounts, stating that Vance had died from heart complications due to dehydration. 

“Her heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration,” an Instagram post states on Vance’s account. “Despite all efforts by the hospital, they were unable to revive her. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed every single day. This was sudden and unexpected. Please give her family time to process this loss in peace. If anyone takes anything from this, please put your heath first.”

According to Vance’s Facebook, she attended West Texas A&M University and was living in Texas. She was also a BETTER BODIES & GASP brand specialist and Eminent Nutrition athlete. She also posted videos on her TikTok frequently documenting her fitness progress.

Spectrum News 1 has reached out to the Arnold Sports Festival for comment.
