Newcastle United welcome Brighton to St James’ Park in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
After securing a place in this month’s Carabao Cup final, the Magpies are out for further cup progress. Eddie Howe’s side navigated a tricky tie at Birmingham to reach round five, as Newcastle look to end a 70-year drought for FA Cup – and domestic trophy – success.
In their path this afternoon is an in-form Brighton side. Fabian Hurzeler’s side have bounced back impressively from a 7-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest last month.
Since then, the Seagulls have recorded four consecutive wins in all competitions, including back-to-back league and cup wins against Chelsea. In midweek, Brighton beat Bournemouth in the Premier League to remain in the hunt for European football.
