A car and a tractor-trailer collided in Westerlo Monday morning.
One person was killed, and several others were hurt.
The crash happened around 10:40 a.m. At County Route 401 and County Route 404.
According to investigators, a car heading north ran a stop sign and hit the tractor-trailer, which was heading west.
“The trucker never had a chance. He did all he could, but he never had a chance to avoid the car,” Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said.
Six people were in the car, including two kids, Apple said.
All survivors were taken to the hospital. Two people are in critical condition, including a child, Sheriff Apple said.
The car is registered out of Virginia, and the tractor-trailer is registered out of Quebec, said Apple.
It’s believed the people in the car were headed to Zoom Flume Water Park in East Durham, Apple said.
There is dashcam video from the tractor-trailer according to Apple. However, there are no plans to release it publicly, he said.
