Milestones Play Park challenges social media allegations about Hand, Food, and Mouth Disease.

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock business is combating claims on social media about an alleged outbreak of Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease.

A woman took to Facebook on Saturday, claiming her children were exposed to the virus at Milestones Development Play Park.

Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease is a viral infection most common in young children and is contracted most often in childcare settings.

Symptoms include rash and sores.

The woman’s post claimed her children developed a fever and the rash four hours after she took her children to the play center.

The Mayo Clinic says the usual period from initial infection to the time symptoms appear is three to six days. Milestones Development and Play Park posted their response to social media after the woman’s claims gained traction, emphasizing that same medical guidance.

While the company says it’s unlikely that the children contracted Hand, Foot, and Mouth at its facility, it says the facility underwent extensive sanitization anyway.

Milestones Park says it’s dedicated to maintaining a safe and clean environment and encourages anyone with any health concerns about its facility to reach out to the company directly.
