Beaumont — If a picture is worth a thousand words then we don’t need to say much about a sweet moment when Beaumont Police Chief Tim Ocnaschek comforted a little girl at a Cops & Kids Fun Day event Sunday, June 22 at Magnolia Park.
KFDM shared the story with CBS News national correspondent David Begnaud and he brought it to a national audience with his unique perspective and brand of storytelling.
Chief Ocnaschek was in the middle of a tug-of-war match when a little girl became upset that her sister and the Chief were winning against her. She ran over to the chief in tears and jumped into his arms.
BPD conveyed the moment with a photo and a Facebook post: “With some comforting words and a big hug, she decided she wanted to be on the Chief’s team—and together they went on to beat a few officers in the next round! Moments like these are exactly why we host events like this—to build trust, create memories, and remind our youngest citizens that we’re here for them, both on and off duty.”
