OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – The Nebraska Humane Society is changing the way their Weekly Pet Food Pantry operates.
In a release sent Friday, the NHS said that June 27 was the last “scheduled” day of the pantry operating out of the shelter.
Now, the NHS will be distributing donated pet food to human food pantries across the metro.
According to the statement, this will allow for pet food to be more efficiently and effectively distributed throughout the metro.
The NHS will continue to offer pet supplies through the Supply Pantry, and will provide food as needed to prevent surrender.
The NHS will continue to accept pet food donations.
In effect, the NHS said the same people will be getting the same pet food at no cost, but now they will have multiple options in their neighborhoods.
In the release, the NHS listed the food pantries with whom they will be partnering:
- First Presbyterian Church
- 216 S. 34th St.
- St. Vincent de Paul
- 2101 Leavenworth St.
- St. Vincent de Paul
- 1715 Izard St.
- Intercultural Senior Center
- 5545 Center St.
- Hope West Food Pantry
- 2556 S 138th St.
The NHS will also continue to hose the Pet Supply Pantry from 2-4 p.m. on the following dates:
- July 18
- Aug. 15
- Sept. 19
- Oct. 17
- Nov. 21
- Dec. 19
