KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — Authorities have arrested 39-year-old Lee Donnell Smith Jr. in connection with a shooting that occurred at a Food Lion in Kernersville on Friday night. The Kernersville Police Department reported that they responded to a call about shots fired at the Food Lion located at 980 South Main Street at 7:12 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
Police said that 32-year-old Malik Battle was shot in the foot, while 31-year-old Synadia Battle was hit in the lower leg. Both victims are recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Smith was taken into custody on Saturday by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office SWAT teams and Kernersville police. Investigators have charged Smith with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a firearm from within an enclosure with the intent to harm or incite fear, and two counts of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Smith is currently being held at the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond.
