AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – A former Evans football star was at Greenbrier Saturday afternoon for his fifth annual kids camp.
Canteen signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent after the NFL Draft this year.
“I remember being a kid dreaming of being in this position. So, to be in this position and to come back in this position, it’s even more inspiring for them, for the kids. They ask me NFL questions and things like that, so you know it’s all fun, but for me and my dream, it’s truly a blessing,” said Canteen.

Canteen has been running the camp since he graduated from Evans.
“I just wanted to give back. Growing up, I didn’t see many college players or any players I knew personally. I just wanted to, as fast as I could, give back to the kids as far as the training, the details, just coaching them up as best as I can. And also let them run around, football is to me a game that brings the community together. So anytime they can get out, get with their peers from school, and get out during the summer days in this heat, and just run around, it means a lot,” said Canteen.
He said that playing at Evans helped prepare him for the NFL.

“I think Augusta just prepared me for this situation, having that chip on your shoulder. Ultimately, I do this to make Augusta and the CSRA proud,” said Canteen.
He said it’s cool to see campers move on into high school and college.
“Some of the guys that were at the first camp are out here helping me coach and helping coach up the kids. Some are currently in college, and they do a great job helping me out in the community.”
He will begin training camp with the 49ers in the next few weeks.
