C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation hosts fishing event at Indian Lake

CEDAR GROVE, Tenn.,—One unique event in Cedar Grove offers those with special needs the chance to reel in a big one!

The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation hosted a fishing event Saturday in Cedar Grove.

The event took place at Indian Lake beginning at 8:30 in the morning and continued until 1 in the afternoon.

At the event, participants were provided with their very own rod & reel, tackle box, cooling towel and were even treated to a delicious lunch.

C.A.S.T. for Kids aims to give those with special needs ages 6-18-years old a fun day of fishing, that they may not otherwise experience. The cause also helps to spread the message that those with disabilities can accomplish anything.

The foundation offers fishing opportunities across over half of the U.S, hosting over 90 events a year, through the help of local and national sponsors.

“I think that just seeing the smiles on the kids faces, and their parents, and then the volunteers. It’s a win, win, win for everybody that participates! Hopefully this will be an annual event, and we can grow instead of having, you know, fifteen kids – we’ll grow up to thirty-five, forty kids,” said Jeff Barnes, C.A.S.T. event coordinator.

At Saturday’s event each participant also went home with a personalized award.
