TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Grace and Gavin Gibson are two kids from Northwood with a goal to make a difference. They are using their lemonade stand to do just that.
Grace approached her parents with the idea of a lemonade stand, not just to make a few extra dollars herself, but for a cause. The goal would be to raise funds to purchase fabric, which would be used for blankets to donate to kids in hospitals.
Her brother, Gavin Gibson, stepped in to help with the lemonade stand. 13 Action News spoke to the two kids about Project Warming Hearts. They described the first day of the lemonade stand as a huge success.
“131 dollars. It was a big success. All the money is leading to buying the fabric for making blankets for the hospital kids and extras will go to fire fighters to help kids like that are in the fires that they are saving,” Gavin Gibson said.
The kids said they want to be able to help kids in the hospital who are dealing with injuries or illness. The kids plan on having the lemonade stand again later this summer in hopes for another great day.
“We are warming the hearts with the blankets. Come to the lemonade stand!”
