Syracuse, N.Y. — An 18-year-old was charged Friday in the drive-by shooting that wounded three kids on Syracuse’s North Side Monday, police said.
Nakise Elliott was charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for Syracuse police.
He’s accused of shooting a 9-year-old boy in the arm, an 8-year-old boy in the buttocks and a 12-year-old boy in the foot at Knaul Street and Hier Avenue, Coffey said. The shootings took place at about 8:40 p.m. Monday.
The shooter was on a Veo electric scooter with one other person, District Attorney William Fitzpatrick said earlier this week.
All three kids were taken to Upstate University Hospital.
Police don’t know why Elliott shot at the three kids at this time, Coffey said.
Police found Elliott around 9:15 a.m. Friday at 215 Lakeview Ave.
He is being held at the Onondaga County Justice Center awaiting arraignment.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police ask anyone with information to contact them at (315) 442-5222.
