Lowcountry Food Bank receives $5,000 donation from CSX to support veterans

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Lowcountry Food Bank announced that it has been awarded a $5,000 grant from CSX Transportation to support veterans who experience food insecurity.

The food bank distributes healthy food, such as fresh produce and prepared meals, to veterans who can access food through food distributions close to home. They will also have access to an emergency food pantry in the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center that helps address diet-related health issues.

Lowcountry Food Bank President and CEO Nick Osborne said he appreciates the donation they received from CSX.

“Thanks to organizations like CSX, we have the honor of helping uplift veterans who have given so much of themselves to serve our nation,” Osborne said. “We want to express heartfelt thanks to CSX for supporting our mission and to our veterans who may simply be going through a difficult time.”
