LAFAYETTE, La. (NEWS 15) — The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Mark Garber, hosted its annual Youth Golf Tournament at Hebert Municipal Golf Course in Lafayette. The two-day event was designed for children ages 6 to 17, aiming to keep them active during the summer.
The tournament was free and encouraged children to participate in sports in a fun and structured way, offering them a chance to learn golf. It also provided an opportunity for kids to interact with law enforcement in a positive setting.
“Great way for the interaction between law enforcement and the youth of the community, and it teaches the kids good skills like teamwork, honesty and integrity in sports, and gets them out from behind the electronics, and out in the open to enjoy the fresh air and hopefully the good weather,” said Amy Daigle with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Before this week’s tournament, many of the children participated in the annual youth golf clinic, which took place last week at the Wetlands Golf Course.
