Darling’s Chevy extends ‘Stuff the Truck’ collaboration with Ellsworth food pantry

ELLSWORTH, Maine (WABI) -Food insecurity has been an issue in Maine for years now.

That’s why many businesses are partnering with area food pantries to curb the issue in hopes of making a change.

Darling’s Chevy out of Ellsworth has partnered with Loaves and Fishes, an all-volunteer food pantry based out of Ellsworth.

Since June 14 they’ve hosted a ‘Stuff the truck’ initiative asking locals to make a food or cash donation with a chance to win a lobster cooking set or two tickets to see Matt Rife next year.

The general manager for Darling’s Chevy said they’re still seeking the community’s help with this effort.

“Our goal is to get to $10,000 and we’re going to match whatever is donated to us as well,” said Connor Darling.

“Right now, we have about two, three-thousand dollars worth of food piled up in a couple of our trucks so we’re looking to increase that and yeah we’re going on until July 12 with the event.”

They will be accepting non-perishable foods, tooth brushes, deodorant, anything in that nature.
