CAMP SHELBY, Miss. (WDAM) – Dozen of children from all over Mississippi are participating in a unique summer camp at Camp Shelby.
The Kids Annual Training, or Kids AT, is a camp for children of members of the Mississippi National Guard.
During the camp, campers have ridden Army vehicles and checked out various static displays of military equipment and weapons.
“I like going to different places and learning about different things in the military,” said Dazie Bittle, 11, a camper from Madison.
Campers also do arts and crafts, swim and take part in challenging STEM activities.
“Camp isn’t for everyone, but I feel like you’ll have a good time and yeah, it’s just fun,” said Emmanuel Hearne, 11, a camper from Picayune.
The camp wraps up Saturday.
“It’s fun,” said 10-year-old camper Thalon Webb. “I’ve always wanted to be in the military, so I get a little bit of experience of that,”
This year, the camp attracted 116 kids.
“I would say this place is amazing and I want to come back next year,” said Aubrei Abraham, a camper from Brandon.
Kids AT Camp is celebrating its 33 year.
