BANGOR, Maine (WABI) – It was fun in the sun Tuesday at Pancoe Pool’s opening day with folks lined up to be the first to jump in and beat the heat.
Dakota Henderson and his family were first in line to get in. He said they waited an hour and a half before the doors opened.
Bangor Police Department was in on the fun too, handing out popsicles to those in line.
The Chief of police even covered the entry fee for all kids ages 12 and younger for the opening day.
With all the excitement and cool water splashing around, it was almost easy to forget how hot it was outside.
And even with the long line, it didn’t stop the kids from having a blast once they were inside.
“Just going to water and have some fun. Go on water slide. Hang out with my family.”
“To swim and have fun” said Brody Breyer from Lincoln.
“Just swimming.” said Paxton Barrows from Augusta.
“I think that yellow slide over there because it’s really fast, and I like splashing into the water.” said Charlie Dorman of Bangor.
“I love the slides. They’re really fun.” said Hazel Libbey from Naples, Florida.
“There’s water slides and there’s like a lot of deep end so we can like go into the water and then jump.” said classmates Brielle Sharp from Woster, Massachusetts and Ellie Barrows from Augusta.
Franklin Avery from Hermon also said the water slides.
“The water slides definitely.” Penelope Stewart from Bangor said.
Charlotte Smith from Bangor said, “I think everything’s great about it. I like the slides and stuff and I think that it’s like big.”
“My favorite part is probably actually the slides.” said Avaiah Fahey from Bangor.
Looks like they can all agree on one thing. The panko pool water slide is the best.
Bangor Parks and Recreation say that Dakin Pool will be open this Friday.
