Babies have so many exciting firsts! And at just six months old, Alex Drummond’s baby Sofia has already experienced a lot. She’s been to her Aunt Paige’s wedding, watched grandma Ree Ree on television, and even had her first cooking lesson.
And recently, a new core memory for Alex has been unlocked and she captured it on video: Sofia tried food for the first time! While there’s surely more to come (her grandmother is The Pioneer Woman, after all), there is only one first time. And it came in the form of a steamed sweet potato mashed up with a little breast milk.
While baby Sofia has quite the time getting adjusted to her chair (“It’s the arching backwards for me, 😂” Alex jokes in the caption), she eventually gets a few fingers full of food in her mouth… and one little table lick towards the end. The rest is for sensory playtime, naturally.
The verdict? “Well that went pretty well!” Alex concludes. Soon after, she posted a story on Instagram with a new feeding essentials for solids. She admitted that she never asked for anything on her baby registry because “it felt so far away, and here we are now!”
In her first haul from Amazon, she ordered the “very recommended” NumNum spoons that have ridges that make it easier for babies to feed themselves, along with silicone bowls and plates that suction to the highchair, and some bibs. Here’s hoping there’s more of Sofia’s eating adventures in the near future!
