Food truck park planned in up-and-coming area of St. Charles

ST CHARLES, Mo. — A new food truck park is planned in an up-and-coming area of St. Charles.

The food truck area, to be called Bench Racers, is targeted to open for a few events in October and then open permanently on weekends next spring, developers said.

The food truck park will be located at a former 1940s-era Texaco gas station/garage at 1801 N. Second St. and the vacant lots next to it. The nearly 1-acre site is located between Main Street and Highway 370, in the city’s historic Frenchtown district.

The dog-friendly community gathering space will also celebrate car culture in a big way, with a barbecue and beverage bar located inside the restored gas station. A stage will be built behind the garage that will host live music acts and eventually a big screen TV to watch live sporting events and movies, said Andy Stark, who is part of the married couple behind the project.
