Legislators serve food to hunger relief supporters

Arkansas legislators were Serving Up Solutions on June 12 along with some tasty fare during the 18th annual fundraiser for Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance.

Supporters of Serving Up Solutions were welcomed to the event, held at the Albert Pike Masonic Center, by co-chairs Renee and John Bethel.

More than 60 Arkansas legislators across political lines served meals prepared by chefs from Ben E. Keith, Brood and Barley, Raduno, Cypress Social and Cheesecake on Point.

Rep. Jon Eubanks of Paris won the friendly competition among legislators to collect the most tips.

The tips, along with money raised through live and online auctions and ticket sales, help support the Hunger Relief Alliance’s “mission to end hunger in Arkansas.” The Hunger Relief Alliance is a statewide collaboration among member organizations that work to provide outreach and education about nutrition and benefits, access to fresh produce and anti-hunger advocacy. According to the organization’s statistics, one in five Arkansans — and one in four of the state’s children — face food insecurity. Arkansas is No. 1 in the nation for food insecurity.
