Kids from UMC’s Burn Center reunite for Camp Amistad

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – It was a day full of sun and fun as former patients from UMC’s Burn Center reunited for Camp Amistad.

A partnership with Lubbock Fire Rescue, Camp Amistad provides a fun, supportive environment for kids who have suffered burn injuries.

The UMC Burn Center cares for patients far and wide, from right here in West Texas and eastern New Mexico, to Oklahoma and Kansas.

After a hard road to recovery,UMC staff and families agree it’s nice to watch their kids finally be kids.

“Honestly it’s overall a family experience, but these kiddos they come out here, have fun, run around, have a blast so that’s what I really enjoy. They love the slides, they love the dunk tank, so they had fun with that today,” Jocelyn Toombs said.

The UMC Burn Center is largely supported by the Children’s Miracle Network.

You can help support the CMN, and the burn center, during KCBD’s annual telethon later this year.
