Windy City Eats food truck brings the taste of Chicago to Arkansas

A taste of Chicago has rolled into Central Arkansas with the arrival of Windy City Eats, a new food truck offering authentic Chicago-style cuisine.

RJ Davis, the owner, inspired by her entrepreneurial grandmother, said, “Honestly, I give people the two G’s, so it was God and grams.” She fondly recalled helping her grandmother serve the community on Chicago’s west side at the age of 11, which motivated her to bring these flavors to Little Rock.

The menu features Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago dogs with neon green relish, wings with mouth sauce, classic pizza puffs, fries, and shaved ice. “We offer Italian beef sandwiches, Italian beef sandwiches with the Italian sausage. We have wings with the mouth sauce, and it’s, it’s the real deal,” Davis said. “We also have Chicago dogs, the classic pizza puffs, fries, and shaved ice.

The food truck is a family affair, with the Davis’ aunt Tanya and Tanya’s husband Freddie playing crucial roles. “Shout out to my aunt Tanya. She’s actually back there cooking up, getting ready to serve now,” she said, expressing gratitude for their hard work.

Since opening on May 3, Windy City Eats has attracted customers from across the region, including Stuttgart, McGee, Conway, and Sherwood. “We’ve had people absolutely love the food,” she said, noting the growing number of regular customers.

For those new to Chicago-style food, the owner recommends trying the Italian beef sandwiches, “baptized” for full flavor. “You have to get it dipped. Matter of fact, baptize it, because it’s just that good when it’s wet,” she said.

For a true Windy City experience, Davis suggests adding mouth sauce to the wings. “Other than dipping your beefs, you have to also get the mouth sauce on your wings. That’s the only way,” she said.

With the enticing aroma of Chicago-style dishes wafting through the air, it’s clear that Windy City Eats is bringing a slice of the Windy City to Arkansas.

Located at 7420 Counts Massie Road in Maumelle, the food truck operates Wednesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
