2025 CMN’s Home Run Derby raises over $30,000 for local kids with health challenges

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – The Children’s Miracle Network of Amarillo hosted their 2025 Home Run Derby at HODGETOWN on Friday night, raising over $30,000 for helping local children that face serious health challenges.

The event was open to children from ages 5-17 and even had activities for adults later in the evening.

The kids were able to practice their batting skills at a minor league ballpark, just like the professionals on the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

The director of Children’s Miracle Network of Amarillo, Brooke Rodriques, says this event is a huge part of raising money for those kids in need.

“We utilized this event as a fundraiser for Children’s Miracle Network and we help Miracle families in Amarillo and the top 26 counties in the Texas Panhandle, and we also helped some in Oklahoma and Kansas,” she said. “What we do is fundraisers and big events to help bring in the money so that we can continue to provide support for these families. It’s a fun experience because these kids come out and they go to watch the Sod Poodles play all the time, but they never get to come down here on the field. It’s very different for them. Maybe they feel like Major League Baseball players.”
